Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

JR posted an article with lots of detail last night. Sounds like the offer has gone up to 8 and there are versions that hit 7-8 years, but issues remain regarding a no movement clause and bonus structure in the last year or two of the contract. Bigger bonuses in the late years make contracts hard t...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

How many GM’s in the league would tell their Captain, who is currently a top 10 defenseman that just won you a Cup, to go take a hike? I’ll tell you how many other GM’s would do this.............NONE..........ZERO............NADA...........so much for Army being too loyal. Apparently he’s only loyal...

Re: Playoff Hockey -2020

Should be an interesting series. Scratch what I said about Tampa needing the rest.....they are starting tomorrow night. Shit, I thought they would get at least a few days off. Thankfully, I don’t hate either team (other than Jamie Benn), so it’s not like the Blackhawks are in this. I’d prefer to se...

Re: NHL Offseason Trades and Signings

This looks to be the classic trade that made both teams worse. https://twitter.com/NHL/status/1306355967249047552?s=19 I don't know, seems like it only makes Minnesota worse to me. I don't understand this for them at all. I think Staal was pretty comfortable in Minnesota. I don't know how motivated...

Re: NHL Offseason Trades and Signings

He’s a good D man IMO. AAV arguably a little higher than it should be though. But I say that without looking at his numbers/rankings though. I certainly wouldn't call him just a guy, but he's probably only the 3rd best defenseman on that team. Who could have seen it coming that the Wild overpay for...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

Heard JR on the radio today and he gave an update on the Petro situation. A few notes (some old, some new): -He believed the AAV on latest offer from Blues was $7.7 -Thinks Petro would take hometown discount but wants other terms in favor -Petro wants to stay but definitely frustrated by negotiatio...

Re: Playoff Hockey -2020

The Lightning look fantastic......night and day from the last few years. Maroon clearly has a lot to do with the different attitude this team has this year, and he is also playing very well. The crazy thing is that the Lightning are doing this without Stamkos, and with retreads like Bogosian and Lu...

Re: Playoff Hockey -2020

Did not know Doc Emerick was calling games from his home. Apparently there were connection issues. He’s supposed to resume the ECF Gm 4 and do the SC Final though, so he’ll be back.

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

Wow, Army basically telling Petro thanks for the memories. Man I give him credit. Letting Petro walk gives the Blues a better chance at remaining a contender in the future. Much better than riding off into the sunset and saddling yourself with fading stars like the Hawks and Kings did. I hate to sa...

Re: NHL Offseason Trades and Signings

Jake made this trade happen, book it. Good move for the Canadians IMHO; have always loved JEd's game and he should add some toughness and PK to the defence. That’s a great deal by Bergevin at a cheap price. As long as he doesn’t teach Joel to throw the puck in his own net, Eddie should do just fine...

Re: Playoff Hockey -2020

The Dallas Blues look familiar don’t they? Funny since Maroon kept them out of the Finals last year and there’s a decent chance they’ll meet up again. Could Maroon strike Big D down 2 years in a row?

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

This was from a Petro question in JR's recent mailbag: One source said the Blues were offering a five-year deal that was closer to $7 million than $8 million. The belief is that Pietrangelo is not happy with any of the offers he has received and he’s very disappointed in the way things have been ha...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

Petro was turning into SHIT before Berube took over. If Berube gets canned in the next couple years, it's buyer beware on Petro. Berube brought the best out of Petro. Would that carry over without the Chief? I wouldn't bet on it. Just sayin.............. that's my take too. we'll be fine. sucked wh...

Re: Playoff Hockey -2020

i just can't get excited about any of these games. i watched the blues games where i could but all the rest of this just seems kind of silly. i'm glad they are doing what they need to to keep the NHL viable, but it's all just sort of exhibition/scrimmage vibes for me. I couldn't shake the exhibitio...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

Perfect as in the Hitchcock/Yeo disaster? The trade for Halak? Ryan Miller? Extending Allen? Extending Berglund? Not trading Oshie after the Sochi/Oshie nonsense? Trading Ben Bishop because we had Jarosuck Halot? Not listening to Tarasenko about signing Artemi Panarin? He's gotten us something no o...
