Re: News and Games around the NHL

https://twitter.com/tomtimm/status/1309362865560866817 I wonder if this becomes somewhat prevalent with players leaving the safety of the bubble headed to areas that might have larger outbreaks. I suppose we probably won't hear about it for players though since they won't be playing again for a whil...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

At what point do the Blues trade his rights? If both sides have really put their "final offers" on the table and it's just not going to happen, then I think maybe Army gives permission to the agent to talk to other teams. The teams that have been mentioned (Toronto-15, Vegas-29, Calgary-19) all hav...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

Another article focused on the Petro negotiations, this time from Greg Wyshinski of ESPN: https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/29956496/alex-pietrangelo-savvy-local-hero-pressure-play-st-louis-blues Nothing new per se, but I think the paragraph that quotes Cam Janssen towards the end is the key take...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

LeBrun sees Vegas, Toronto and Calgary as best landing spots for Pietrangelo Surprised to see Calgary and Vegas listed here. Army has all the leverage here. There might not be many options in free agency that Petro likes. I'm guessing Colorado might be a player in this and I would think Petro would...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

My guess is that he is willing to sign for 8 x 8 or a little higher, but the sticking point is that he wants most of the money in signing bonus and a full NMC. I still think this gets done when Army agrees to the full NMC if we limit the signing bonus to 30%-40% of the contract. I really think the ...

Re: News and Games around the NHL

Award winners were announced last night:
Calder- Makar
Vezina- Hellebuyck
Norris- Josi
Hart- Draisaitl

No real surprises. The Norris had the most competition with Carlson and Josi, but I think they got it right. I might have voted differently, but honestly that was 6 months ago so I have no idea.

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

I'm not sure if this belongs here or not, but as it is about clearing cap space for Petro, I'll post it here. The Senators have 7 picks in the first 2 rounds, 4 of them 2nd round picks. How about Steen to Ottawa for a 2nd rounder, they can pick which one. They are shedding salary and going with you...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

Totally depends on the AAV. If he signs for right around $8 mil, then I think Army says yes. Army showed his philosophy when signing Schenn. He flat out said that the last couple of years oF that deal could be less than ideal, but he was willing to take that chance. I assume that had a lot to do wi...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

hey gang, long time lurker (even back to the asylum) anyways, had a question and I figure someone here will def know the answer. I get that there appears to be more to Petro's contract talks than just $$, but this just pertains to that. My understanding is, LTIR does not go into effect until the be...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

JR posted an article with lots of detail last night. Sounds like the offer has gone up to 8 and there are versions that hit 7-8 years, but issues remain regarding a no movement clause and bonus structure in the last year or two of the contract. Bigger bonuses in the late years make contracts hard t...

Re: Pietrangelo Free Agency Talk

How many GM’s in the league would tell their Captain, who is currently a top 10 defenseman that just won you a Cup, to go take a hike? I’ll tell you how many other GM’s would do this.............NONE..........ZERO............NADA...........so much for Army being too loyal. Apparently he’s only loya...

Re: Bill Armstrong to Arizona

I wonder... there's quite a bit of daylight between amateur scouting and building an organ-eye-zation, managing a salary cap, working contracts, building and keeping a good farm system, hiring and working with coaches, dealing with ownership, etc... It's not as easy of a jump as it might seem. BUT ...

Re: Bill Armstrong to Arizona

Officially official officially: https://twitter.com/StLouisBlues/status/1306624789424078848 Interestingly but it makes logical sense, Armstrong won't be able to have any role in Arizona's draft given that he has full knowledge of the Blues draft board. Not the biggest deal right now since they don't...

Re: NHL Offseason Trades and Signings

I don't know, seems like it only makes Minnesota worse to me. I don't understand this for them at all. I think Staal was pretty comfortable in Minnesota. I don't know how motivated he will be to play in Buffalo. You're right I don't understand this trade from the Wild perspective unless it was abou...
