Re: 30 years ago today

I remember Art Holiday did sports on Channel 5 & he did the Gretzky trade as breaking news! :D Art Holiday or Art Vandelay? 200.gif No, it was Art Holiday who did sports back then. No idea who Art Vandelay is. Never liked Seinfeld. I prefer Three's Company, The Jeffersons, & Gilligan's Isla...

Re: 30 years ago today

LOL..I also remember it well. Gretzky & Magic Johnson were on the cover of Sports Illustrated & Magic said, "I'm definitely going to get season tickets"! He did great his first year in L.A.but it was mostly downhill from there. A couple years later he did have a strong Cup run but ...

Re: Modano & Roenick

Modano & Roenick, 2 USA guys, 1 in the HOF and the other isn't. Both guys came up at the same time. Modano, the HOF inductee, has never topped 100 points in a season. Topped 40 goals only once, which was a 50 goal season. Roenick topped 100 points 3 times, 40 goals 4 times, and 50 goals twice. ...

But so did Roenick in his prime.

Re: JR: JT not meeting with the Blues

I wonder how much the city as a whole is impacting free agents coming here? The Cardinals can't lure free agents either. This city doesn't have a good reputation on great places to live in America. Have you gone up north to Chicago lately?? It's an out of control ZOO! The population & traffic i...

Re: Ray Emery, dies from drowning

After two big swims...I'm not sure I really enjoy the risk of class IV and up. Little comfort to Emery's family, as there aren't many rapids in the harbour of Hamilton, ON. Right. So, like many other drownings, it was probably too much drinking or partying or something. R.I.P. to the Emery family.

Re: Playoff Open Thread

Well the Caps finally did it. It looked like they were faltering in the first round against Columbus but they totally turned things around. I'll always like that '98 team more though with Adam Oates, Peter Bondra, Joe Juneau, Brian Bellows, Richard Zednik, Chris Simon, Sergei Gonchar, Phil Housely, ...

I'll press my balls against the glass
If the Blues ever play in a cup-winning game, I'm switching to radio-only!
And not watch the game on TV??

Re: Ovechkin is the best player in NHL history to never even make the Conference finals!

Oh yeah, Keenan was closer to pulling it off than given credit for. If Gretzky didn't have the bad back, and why Tikannen was traded away I'll never know because the whole Blues theme that year was to collect veteran winners. So there's a reason why he was dealt but it's never been know. Point is, ...

Re: Ovechkin is the best player in NHL history to never even make the Conference finals!

Congrats! I knew the Caps would eventually do it! The last time the Caps made it this far was in 1998 when they played Buffalo in the Conference finals & they won in overtime in game 6 or game 7! I know it was Joe Juneau who brought the house down with the OT goal. That 1998 run by the Caps was ...

Re: 2018 IIHF Worlds

OUCH! South Korea getting hammered again after the Olympics. No points & only 2 goals scored while 29 allowed.

It would be nice if a non-European team could compete at this level. I once thought Japan could do it but now I doubt it unless something really changes.

Re: Ovechkin is the best player in NHL history to never even make the Conference finals!

He's going to make it this year. Penguins going down.... I think they have a good chance too this year. They just can't let Crosby & the Penguins get into their heads! They've not been to a Conference finals in 20 years when the stars were Peter Bondra, Joe Juneau, Chris Simon, Phil Housely, St...

Re: Ovechkin is the best player in NHL history to never even make the Conference finals!

Keep in mind that Anderson, Hawerchuck, and to some extent, Gretzky, were just shadows of their former selves by that time. But an even OLDER Gretzky with a older Messier went to the Conference finals just a year or 2 later with the Rangers. The Blues could've won that game 7 if just a bounce or 2 ...

Re: Ovechkin is the best player in NHL history to never even make the Conference finals!

This guy deserves a SC Final. Would love to see him get there. Heck the Blues never made the 3rd round with Hull all those years and that was just plain inexcusable IMO. The Hawks, North Stars, Canucks all make Finals in early 90's and we don't? Just horrible how the Blues messed that up. TOTALLY u...

Ovechkin is the best player in NHL history to never even make the Conference finals!

Pretty shocking that after 13 seasons Ovechkin STILL hasn't made the Conference finals! No other player of his caliber has such an embarrassing distinction do they? It's not all his fault & 3 seasons he was knocked out by Sidney Crosby. Of course he could change things this year but so far it lo...

Re: New Consolidated R.I.P. Thread

RIP Art Bell. I know I'm not the only one who heard his late night spooky show in the 90s & 2000s about the paranormal & unexplained phenomena. The show was/is called Coast to Coast AM. Link at the bottom. When the Blues were on KTRS you could hear his show after a night Blues game! George N...

Re: Dogg Cherry

White people love snoop dog more than black people at this point, I'd imagine. His gang banger image is long gone, he spends more time with Martha Stewart than on the streets now. The NHL has been absolutely lapped by the NBA at this point. You're not going to get viewers away from that sport and o...

Re: Dogg Cherry

No! It's a waste of money trying to reach fans who'll never like hockey anyway. Plus I doubt Snoop needs the money. I'm surprised he did this considering he's made millions gangsta rapping.

LOL..Snoop says he's "the greater one"??

Re: Thorburns present $20,000 check to local special needs teacher

Glad this thread has descended into ripping a guy for helping raise $25,000 for kids with cancer. Re-think your life choices. Re-think what you read. If Petro really cared he could've let hard working average people keep their hard earned money & he could've given the kid FIVE times as m...

Re: Thorburns present $20,000 check to local special needs teacher

that's a great story, and i'm happy the school was able to get some help, but... you guys are acting like chris wrote them a check with his own money. sounds to me like he used his position to co-opt blues fans into paying for supplies for his kid's school. what a hero. wealthy guy who could absolu...

Re: Thorburns present $20,000 check to local special needs teacher

Imagine the good Backes could have done for kids if he put his mind to it, instead he's buying puppy biscuits. Totally disagree. You've got BILLIONAIRE philanthropists dedicated to helping many human causes. MEGA foundations have been set up to help people in innumerable ways yet who speaks for tho...
