Re: News and Games around the NHL

It wasn't intentional. Motte has his head down and skates into Reaves back. Not sure how you are defining dirty, but you actually have to extend or deliberately make contact with the head for it to be dirty, neither of which happens. Asserting that Motte skated into Reaves’ back is just incredibly ...

Re: News and Games around the NHL

Yeah, that’s the definition of a dirty hit. Principal point of contact is the head. Not much more to be said there. It wasn't intentional. Motte has his head down and skates into Reaves back. Not sure how you are defining dirty, but you actually have to extend or deliberately make contact with the ...

Re: Brodeur leaving organization, Bill Armstrong promoted

Proof the Blues front office is reading this board and took our advice from yesterday to promote Bill Armstrong today. Indeed - I'd like to take credit, but it seemed like a no-brainer to me, haha. They even kept his title (for now) as director of amateur scouting, which we all wanted. I think he c...

Re: NHL Farm System Rankings

As for the above post, this should be a bigger story, because BA’s deal expired in June. With Brodeur’s departure, I think BA is in line for a promotion. I suspect he would still retain his position in scouting (i’d hope so, anyway), but in order to keep BA, the Blues will likely need to promote hi...

Re: Soshnikov and the KHL?

Most likely scenario for sure but I'm hoping for two big trades including one that would be a bit of a shocker. I think you're right. Now that his contract issue is behind him, I expect Army to be more active at the draft than he was last year, and that we make more than one big splash in free agen...

Re: Prospects - 2019 Roles

As far as the expansion draft (it's expected to be in June of 2020, after '19/20 season), the Blues will have an issue on D. Assuming they protect 7 forwards and 3 d-men and 1 goalie, this is what you could realistically expect: Forwards protected: Schwartz, Schenn (assuming he is re-signed), Tarase...

Re: Prospects - 2019 Roles

Foley just signed his ELC (ATO this season in San Antonio, ELC starts next year, so he'll be exempt from the expansion draft). He'll certainly be in the AHL. I think Jaskin would be re-signed over Sundqvist - I'm really liking a 4th line of Jaskin-Barbashev-Soshnikov, with Brodziak re-signed as well...

It's a different game today, but I long for the days of Pronger. Benn would have never done that to Pronger, because if he did, he'd get a spear to the knee when the refs weren't looking.

Re: 2018 STL Blues Trade Deadline Thread

For those who want to get faster and more physical, this guy fits the bill. Yes, he's a bottom 6 player. That's what you get when you trade a 4th rounder. I see this as a trade for the future, with Soshnikov replacing either Upshall or maybe Jaskin. Soshnikov sounds and looks like a younger version ...

Domi

is available, per Brooks. He only has 3 goals this year, after 9 last year and 18 before that in his rookie season. I'm not sure what's happened to him, but I've mostly been impressed when I see him against the Blues. He's a LH, LW, which isn't exactly a need, but he could be a decent insurance opti...

Button on Kyrou: https://www.tsn.ca/video/kyrou-looks-poised-to-shine-for-canada-at-world-juniors~1272645 So, the link takes me to the TSN page with the Kyrou headline, but it doesn't show me the video, just a link to the video, which is the URL address of the page I'm looking at. There are videos ...

How so? Steen was outside the paint, didn't touch the goalie at all. Vancouver's coach reviewed the play, correctly decided not to challenge.

Re: Blues 2018-2019 talk

I know the 2017-18 season hasn't started, but I thought I would start a thread for us to like to think and discuss the future. Some of the current things on my mind are: 1) If Joel Edmundson has a solid season, which I mean is he good defensively, chips in occasionally on offense, someone we can de...

Stats page shows it was Kostin with other assist.

Re: Offseason Moves

I see your point, but do any of those left wingers boast the scoring title and mvp for any league they've ever played for? It would be lunacy imho to let a player with those bona fides walk. The Blues can only do so much. We might offer him a one-way contract, but the point being made is why would ...

Two roster players huh...hmmm Shattenkirk and Lehtera for Tom Wilson, a 1st, and 2nd, and Jakub Vrana?
Way too much salary going to WAS - they're up to the cap. We'd need to take on salary, likely Orpik.

Re: Draft Day Thread

I think we're in for a huge letdown tonight. Given Strickland and JR reporting that Armstrong still thinks they can win it all next year, and they won't be trading for the future....aye. Although...Armstrong did allude to getting back in the first round utilizing other assets...like the Rundblad tra...
