Re: News and Games around the NHL

Interesting article about goaltending around the league here. Notes that Binnington is one of very few goalies on pace to play more than 60 games. Thought this chart was funny--Blues are in the "good starter, bad backup" quadrant goalie_tandems201920.png https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/28074820...

Re: Troy Brouwer is back

I got 3 words for y'all "net front presence ", it's been lacking since the big rings departure. Very true. But the Blues have one of the best power plays in hockey without a net front presence. Something I've noticed is the "net front" guy (Schenn on the first unit) often moves under the goal line ...

Re: Don Cherry

Sean McIndoe (Down Goes Brown) has a really good article on this if you have an Athletic subscription. Here's an excerpt if you don't. Not saying anything on the topic other than posting the article as I said my piece in the news thread. "This weekend, it became impossible. Cherry’s comments about “...

Re: News and Games around the NHL

The last thing I’m going to say about this Cherry thing is that if you don’t find his words offensive, you should perhaps think about why you don’t and listen to the people Cherry was talking about and why they find it offensive. It’s easy to not see things as offensive when you’re not part of the g...

Re: News and Games around the NHL

I don’t think this is the worst thing Cherry has said (although as a person who isn’t a Canadian immigrant I don’t really get to decide what is offensive), and Cherry should have been fired a long time ago. He basically said women shouldn’t be allowed to report on hockey at one point

Re: Troy Brouwer is back

This is then end result when you consistently draft midgets in the first round and you want to play a big game. Are you talking about the Blues? The last three players the Blues took in the first round are Bokk (6-1), Kostin (6-3) and Thomas (6-0). Those guys are hardly midgets. Prior to that is Ta...

Re: Troy Brouwer is back

The Brouwer goal against the Hawks is easily one of my favorite pre-2019 Blues memories, but unless they're sending de la Rose down already, am I the only one that just doesn't see where he fits? He's not a top 6 guy anymore and the 4th line is perfect as is. He's not taking Blais' spot, so DLR is ...

Re: Troy Brouwer is back

Always looking for a good excuse to post this. Similar to a recent game 7...first goal scored by our #1 center deflecting a JBo shot

Brouwer's goal here probably one of the biggest goals in Blues history prior to 2019.

Re: Blues trade Fabbri

Im confused why some people think Fabbri wasn’t given an opportunity. He had all of training camp this year to earn a top 6 role and Sammy Blais ran circles around him. Sammy Blais. Don’t want to belabor this, but while Blais had a better camp he certainly had a better camp than Sanford, who has no...

Re: Blues trade Fabbri

It’s going to suck if he does well with Detroit and we struggle for goals with 91 out The thing is, he wasnt going to do anything here except take up space. Wish him well in Detroit, but his time here was overdue. I tend to agree, but Berube never really gave him a shot on either of the top two lin...
